Documentary Screening
and Panel On March 13, 2005, the Amnesty International chapter at the University
of North Texas hosted a documentary screening and panel discussion
|
to
raise awareness about the disaster on campus and demand justice
from Dow and the Indian Government. Nearly 100 people attended the
event, and many of them signed Amnesty petitions and postcards to
Dow demanding action. The evening started off with a showing of
the short film Twenty Years Without Justice, and followed
with a panel discussion which featured representatives from the
Amnesty and environmental groups on campus, as well as a UNT student
from India who was in Bhopal and remembers the disaster as a child.
The question and answer session afterward was wideranging, and many
students were interested in the implications of Bhopal for globalization,
corporate accountability, and human rights.
The international student campaign to hold Dow
accountable for Bhopal, and its other toxic legacies around the world.
